Last Exile: Fam in Review [2/10]

I mainly picked up this show because I remember the first season being good. It was quite some time ago and my taste have changed quite a bit, but I still don't remember it being quite the train wreck that this was. To put it as simply as possible, they turned a shounen anime into K-ON; What a blasphemy.

Wolf Rants: Some Anime Winter 2012 reviews

Okay so here are my quick reviews for most of Winter 2012s anime series. Yeah, I ain’t reviewing all the series that came out or ended this season either because I didn’t watch them or I just don’t feel like making one for ‘em. BTW, I’ve already given Nisemonogatari its own review but I just copy-pasted it here just in case.

Last Exile: Fam 21 - Lelouch End

Words can not describe the rage I have for this final episode. Still, I couldn't help but tear up a bit through this episode even as illogical as it was. Almost a week after the episode aired for the subs to come. I already partially spoiled myself watching the raws though. I gotta say, Last Exile: Fam was quite the disappointment from start to finish with no redeeming qualities.

Last Exile: Fam 20 - Giant Chainsaws

Advanced alien technology that can instantly wipe out everything? No problem, I got a giant chainsaw to fight them off with! So one final episode to see all my predictions come true about this show. I was pretty spot on last week, it is semi-difficult to predict shows like these. They tend to throw in random curve balls for no reason and explain situations as awkwardly as possible.

Last Exile: Fam 19 - Grand Exile

The Vasant looks so much better with her hair down then in that cap thing. So the final boss has finally appeared in this show, the Grand Exile. I guess this would be the main Exile while all those other ones are just fragments of this main body. Quite clearly they have no intention in involving any character from the first season and leave Fam to save the day with her magical moe powers.

Last Exile: Fam 18 - Delicious Loli Tears

Since Commie and SFwhine seem to refuse to sub this episode, I caved and downloaded the NicoNico rip. It didn't take me long to regret this decision, this was the first thing that was subbed... It was probably because Nico rips are streams, but I couldn't get over the terrible animation quality all episode; It was almost like I was watching Symphogear. Either way, it was a mildly entertaining episode, only because they decided to step things up at the end.

Last Exile: Fam 17 - Pro Tactics The Anime

They continue down their streak of awesome tactics in this anime. The good news was we saw our first genuine good tactic this episode, but was quickly overshadowed by all the bad ones. All I wanted was to see the Exile ships battle it out, are they really saving that for the final battle? I guess my biggest gripe is still the terrible plot they put together for this show, this just brings shame to the first season.

Last Exile: Fam 16 - Grand Strategy the Anime

After a 2 week wait from that recap episode, you would think that battle would have been a bit more grand. That seems pretty tiny for a build up of a few episodes. Also, why did they bother doing the recap last episode when Anatory wasn't even part of the battle, what a bunch of trolls. At least the minuscule amounts of battle we got this episode wasn't riddled with terrible tactics... oh wait, it was.

Last Exile: Fam 15.5 - Another Recap Episode?

They should have recapped the first season and ignored that other recap episode we got. Nothing happened in the anime to warrant a recap, at least this one is placed to give context  to all the old characters that will be back in action. So does this mean Fam will now be replaced with the old and better MC? When Kira showed up in destiny, it became pretty focused on him by the end. At least this recap was welcomed, it was nice to get some better context of what happened the first season since I clearly forgot it all. Sigh, 2 recap episodes in a 2 cour anime, that is new. I can't wait to see Alvis summon her Exile and crush the crappy Turan exile ship.

Last Exile: Fam 15 - Loli Emperor

So after an already slow episode, we get one that is even more slow. I guess this will be another short post. My need for constant action to keep me awake is getting the best of me. It was just a full episode to prepare for the battle without revealing any of the "good" stuff. All we really had was the first meeting of Fam and the loli leader which will probably be important for the future.

Last Exile Fam 15 - Millia`s Resolve

Sigh, I hate when they build up some suspense and then skip the best part and go to the resolution. I was looking forward to the Exile V Exile fight, instead we skip the action and go back to the talking. It was nice to see Millia finally acting more like a leader for a second until she loses her composure again. I should have knew better then to expect awesome stuff in this anime D:

Last Exile: Fam 14 - A Product of Advanced War Tactics

Well it was an episode filled with explosions from start to finish. Too bad the episode was spewing with terrible tactics that I could not ignore. It was like they were rushing to show more explosions with little care of how badly the battle was fought. I guess this is what happens when you sell your show with a full female main cast. Who needs logic when you got lolis just flying around everywhere.

Last Exile: Fam 13 - Hot Spring Episode?

Even in the glacial parts of their world, they manage to find a hotspring to relax in. This probably wouldn't have felt so bad if it wasn't for space pirates that did absolutely nothing all episode too. At least a prelude of a battle in this show means that next week will be action packed. I guess having this pretty heavy female cast is really pushing for the yuri thing pretty hard.

Last Exile: Fam 12 - The Grand Race

Wow, this was always my light hearted anime to kick back to, what is all this heavy stuff? It was painfully obvious what was going to happen this episode but my heart was still not ready. They even made sure your guard was down by bombarding you with lolis left and right. This will definitely be one of the most important episodes of the season given reason behind the "bad guys" actions.

Last Exile: Fam 12 - Queen of Turan

Sorry for delays due to Christmas; Also I have been playing Catherine. Starting it off in hard mode is tough. Those tips they tell you at the end would have helped if I didn't need to figure it out on my own... This was a nice episode after that trash recap episode was got last week. We get to meet a bunch of other characters from the first season. They are clearly setting up the crazy mystery Russian faction to team up with the characters to beat the federation. Not a bad episodes with things finally moving pretty quickly.

Last Exile 10 - Silly Gonzo, Recaps are for Kids!

Nothing to say about this episode other then, I hate recap episodes. It isn't even the halfway mark and they are already recapping. I could understand a recap if their was a huge break between two seasons, but this is just saving budget and wasting everyone's time. This story wasn't so complicated that this was necessary. Damn this worse then trash episode.

Last Exile: Fam 09 - Cute Girls Doing Cute Field Hockey

Wow, all I could do all episode was scream at my screen in rage! The episode wasn't bad, it just made me angry at all the development that was taking place in a direction I didn't like. All the anime this weekend have been an emotional rollercoaster. I'm not sure if my heart can take much more, there is still Ben-To to go too.

Last Exile: Fam 08 - Giselle's Pain

Oh god, why am I so angry today? Even with the whole episode dedicated to the battle, it was not satisfying at all. All I saw was some poorly done CG with horrible battle tactics and and utter lack substance in this episode. It was just such a painful episode, mainly Giselle, or lack of. I am just so angry today, I pray Ben-To won't let me down too D:

Last Exile 07 - Slice of Fam Life arc over?

Oh shit, that wasn't cute girls doing cute things with airships! After last weeks episode with the pace picking up, they are really raising the bar with another crazy episode and promise of another action packed episode next week. We are finally done with watching Fam go around fan faning around and hoping we would enjoy that.

Last Exile: Fam 06 - Race Time!

She is pointing the wrong way D:

This was an awesome episode. Full of traps, racing, and betrayal; What more could you want? A change from the slow pace the anime has been taking as of late, it would be nice if it kept going on like that. Still, they are spending more time revving up the background plot with the Federation  conquering the world. They need to fight back at one point rather then just building up forces.
