Last Exile: Fam 13 - Hot Spring Episode?

Even in the glacial parts of their world, they manage to find a hotspring to relax in. This probably wouldn't have felt so bad if it wasn't for space pirates that did absolutely nothing all episode too. At least a prelude of a battle in this show means that next week will be action packed. I guess having this pretty heavy female cast is really pushing for the yuri thing pretty hard.

So it is pretty obvious from this start that the Sylvius is pretty much screwed. The other guild member Dio was fighting clearly got away and now took out the Anatoray too. So both key ships have been taken out by the federation, I wonder how they will get them back as they are pretty key to this plot. Unless they plan on  hijack the exile and start flying around with that...

They screwed up a few times where the characters understood what she said and wasn't translated by Millia. Even the times where they said they understood, I wonder how? She never made any gestures or expressions when speaking  so it would be impossible to tell what she said. The better question was how did Millia know Russian? According to this episode, they sealed themselves off after the grand race when Millia was pretty young. To have learned Russian in that time while keeping up as a trouble maker is hard work.

It is hard to believe that Dian didn't understand their vanship at all. She mentioned that she was at the Grand Race but still didn't know why they didn't have guns or a wind breaker? All the ships in the Grand Race was like that. I don't see why she would care about an inferior machine, the Glacias fighter version are far superior to their crappy ship that just have a harpoon.

She is clearly being manipulated into helping the Federation. It was funny how those troops thought that the federation "trusted them". It is standard tactic to have the armies that you conquered to fooder for your regular army. You get rid of pesky troops that might revolt on you and bolster your army size at the same time. It is like it is their first day being part of a war in a war ravaged area...

Doushio...

At least next episode looks to be a good one. Glacias with their mass driver and jet fighter like planes are clearly superior. You can even see in the preview as they wreck havoc on those giant ships. Their is a reason why naval warfare moved away from heavy battleships to favour destroyer class. This is even more relevant in the sky when a large flying target is easier to hit and can't take much more hits then a regular fighter. I'm sure they will ass pull something  to make Glacias lose though to keep the plot moving though...
