Mirai Nikki Ep07 - Dial Tone

The Elite wannabe
Well I was hoping for much more action this episode, but I guess that IS a little hard to do when you'r fighting a child. Overall it was a decent episode, a little below my expectations, but still a worthy watch, marking the end of the newest diary holder.

If you haven't noticed, but have always wondered why the diary holders target Yuno, It's because Yukkii is almost untouchable. Yukkii's diary allows him to predict anything that happens around him in very short intervals, while Yuno's diary foretells anything that happens to Yukkii in ten minute intervals. This OP combination makes it very hard to get to Yukkii without getting rid of Yuno first.

At least kill the brat someplace other than while he's sleeping next to Yukkii's mother.
There were a few issues here and there with how Rei was able to go about doing the things he did in the episode. A few questions popped into mind while watching. Does anyone know how a kindergarten kid manages to not only tie up an adult, drag her out of bed, and move her from the upstairs bedroom to outside? How he is able to reach the ceiling and use all that tape to block the glass windows and sliding doors? My biggest question here; how is this mere child able to come up with such a brilliant trap to poison Yukkii?

Imagine waking up, and looking out your window to see this staring at you.
Lets take at Yuno's foresight ability. I'm not entirely sure on how she did it, but if I had to guess then I suppose she called upon her mental powers to search through time and space within close proximity. That's my guess at least, there was no explanation for what she was doing and how she could tell a package was about to arrive.

The episode hit its high note during the climax between Rei and Yuno. It was pretty awesome to see Yukkii fight off the poison and give Yuno a second wind to put an end to Rei. I really enjoy Yukkii's brief moments where he shines like a hero, he fits his character very well and only resorts to desperate measures upon desperate times. Yuno on the other hand, prefers to end things as swiftly as possible, it's a good thing Yukkii has some control over Yuno, otherwise she would have probably killed Rei when he was playing video games with Yukkii's mother. You can always count on the show to give us some nice brutal scenes, I'm very happy with the amount of dark content than I previously anticipated, with the very tame first episode of the show.

I wonder how they will explain Rei's death to Yukkii's mom, and since Kurusu (Fourth) was able to see Rei's death with his investigative diary, he leaked the info to Uryuu (Ninth), although I have no idea what kind of pact they are making. It will be very interesting to see what Fourth is up to by working with Ninth, and whether next episode will have more relationship progress or more, disturbing secrets and horrible deaths, I'm hoping for both.

Gundam Age 07 - Physical Attack Gundam Upgrade?

Look at my big shiny gleaming sword!

This week on Gundam, we get off our super emo mode Gundam pilot and instead, get to watch him parade around like an idiot. It was just painful watching him go around questioning the war in a colony that isn't his home. Nothing like being absolutely naive to make the perfect Gundam protagonist, I mean, remember Shin? A subpar episode for a subpar anime, I think I prefer my emo in my anime over this crap.

Un-Go - 06 - A New Face Appears

Another day, another mystery, however this episode turns out to be the start of some opposing force to Yuuki. It is nice to finally see some long term struggle appear as a new face makes the scene as the opposing force of the show. This green haired individual apparently wants Yuuki to be the greatest detective, and in order for that to happen, he says he is going to initiate, or involve himself in situations to create a mystery for Yuuki to solve, no matter how cruel or unfortunate the results may be. He has quite the potential, after turning a possible joyful reunion for Yajima with his family, into an event where Yajima almost takes his wife's life away. There was no mention of the guy's name, but I'm sure they could have told us unless it's suppose to be a secret.

While the individual was only revealed at the end of the episode, this weeks mystery was pretty simple, however it had quite the escalation as rumors began to sprout. The mystery wasn't all that special, instead we were given a rather interesting and unfortunate outcome of the war for Yajima's family.

After being imprisoned for a speech made during the war, Yajima's children were sent away to be cared for after their mother began to struggle to cope without her husband. Yajima's wife realized how terrible she was for neglecting her children that she blinded herself and suffered a loss of memory as well.  After finding the slips of super easy code within the books, Yajima believes they were from his wife to Kaisho, assuming they had an affair. As it turns out it was a way for the children to communicate with Kaisho who was helping them out, but It wasn't very clear on whether or not Kaisho did indeed have an affair. I never really liked Kaisho, so it was nice seeing him as a potential suspect this time around.

I love the little scenes between Yuuki and Rie, a nice little bit of side humor and possible interest between the two. I think Rie has a bit of a fancy for Yuuki, I mean, this technically could be considered a date after all. Also, it makes sense that Rie doesn't approve of her father's lies and cover ups, and wants to side with Yuuki, who wishes to bring light to all the mysteries. I do hope we continue to see more subtle scenes like this one pictured above. At this point in the series I believe I understand why I like the show so much, it's the interactions between Inga, Yuuki, RAI, and Rie, and not the mysteries themselves. Another thing to note is how well each mystery revolves around the effects of the war on Japan. I continue to look forward to next episode in hopes of more connection between Rie and Yuuki, they a make a humorous couple, just don't tell Inga on me, I think she might get mad.

Ben-To 07 - Nothing Like a Pool Episode!

Oh ya baby, what an awesome pool episode! I am just loving this anime, this episode was well done, bringing battling even to the pool. The blatant fanservice doesn't even bother me when they do things this good; The humour and plot just mix in perfectly. It has been so long since they actually melded the two together so well, I am really hoping this show sells well and gets a second season; One cour doesn't do it justice.

Last Exile: Fam 06 - Race Time!

She is pointing the wrong way D:

This was an awesome episode. Full of traps, racing, and betrayal; What more could you want? A change from the slow pace the anime has been taking as of late, it would be nice if it kept going on like that. Still, they are spending more time revving up the background plot with the Federation  conquering the world. They need to fight back at one point rather then just building up forces.

Kimi to Boku Ep04

This turned out to be one of those anime that I don't feel like picking back up if I take a break - however, after watching an episode, I want more. It's not perfect, but it still has a good hook.

This episode was pretty heavily centred on Kaname, beginning with a goukon that Chizuru decided to hold with the group (including Masaki). Due to the uneven numbers in gender, Chizuru decided to have Yuki and Shun pose as girls. His drive for the goukon was simply that youngsters needed to do it - I think he meant "socialize", but even then this was ridiculous. I wonder about Kaname's underlying sadness; such a thing can't be good. I hope he's just ennui in the sense that some people tend to blow up their emotions even though it's not that serious; otherwise, I wonder why he's so depressed.

That's all it takes to fall in love.

It turned out that Kaname knew his teachetr, Azusa-sensei, from a long time ago, based off the flashback to their days in kindergarten. (There's been a lot of those so far; now that more characters have been introduced, I wonder if they'll be more included from now on in these character-building side stories.) Basically, Azusa-sensei did some kind of "co-op" at the kindergarten when he was in high school, and Kaname saw him as a threat for Kaori-sensei's love. It doesn't look like Kaori-sensei ended up with Azusa-sensei or anything (I have this thing against teachers ending up together; it's just a little too well packaged...), and neither Kaname nor Azusa-sensei seem to understand that they met before (maybe Kaname does and just doesn't point it out).

Rich housewife?

Predictably, Kaname came down with a cold after the goukon from earlier in the episode was washed out. I say "predictably", but it's always annoyed me how easily some characters in anime get sick after being drenched with water. After just watching another episode of Working'!!, it's just a burning question in my mind. Can people really get so sick so easily? And on such a regular basis? That aside, Kaname was so sick that he couldn't go to school and the others (except for Masaki, whose role in this episode was minimal at best) came to visit. Shun thought that Yuki and Chizuru had taken notes, but it turned out they hadn't. (In fact, the two had really just come to "borrow" Kaname's notes.)

I wonder where Kaname gets his personality from.

It's interesting to see how young Kaname's mother looks and acts; is she actually a young mother, or just a wannabe? (If Kaname's family is rich, like the insinuations, then could this "mother" actually be the trophy wife?) The funny thing is that being so clingy with your son looks cute on anime, but is actually kind of creepy in real life. However, Kaname seemed to handle his mother well enough, and was all-too-happy to have her head off to the supermarket. On her way out, she ran into the childhood friend - Aida Hisako, who seems to clearly have a crush on Kaname. It's really nice that Chizuru is new to the group, because then the introductions don't feel forced at all (plus, the writers need to come up with less quirky ways of revealing characters' names and "positions", meaning less room for error).

He does like older women, after all.

This episode seemed to have the theme of "love" (or something similar), seeing as how it showed blatant hints of Masaki's crush on Shun during the goukon scene and made it kind of clear that Kaname had a crush on Hisaki's older sister, Shizuna. I wonder what kind of development I can expect with this series; I deeply want Shun and Masaki to be together, but I'm not really that invested in the other characters' relationships (yet). I do hope there's at least some development with this anime; as nice of a change of pace as it is to see a group of boys instead of a group of guys, I still don't want it to be about nothing.

Go get him, Masaki!

So, the episode right after Chizuru's big introduction included some other introductions too. I guess the character list isn't over yet, despite all the characters from the OP already being around. The next episode seems to feature the typical summer festival. My only question is when will Shun get his hair cut?

Fate/Zero 08 - The Result of Talking During Battles

Another action packed episode, if only all three fights didn't involve random moments staring at each other, it would be perfect. Still, it was a good episode, I was fully expecting someone to die, we are one third through the season and still no one has been taken out of the holy grail war. Still the best anime of this season so far with all the action going on.

About: OkamiSan

(*-*) Hai Thar peoplez. I guess this is the place where I tell you a bit of myself. But first off I wanna make it clear that I’m not the writer. In fact I hate writing essays; I’m more of a visual guy. Yes I’m a guy.

I watch anime as much as I can… well, perhaps I watch too much though (^-^). I don’t know why I like it, I just do, it’s like “do you really need a reason to fall in love with someone when your heart tells you that you love ‘em?”. I started watching anime with bleach and naruto in 2005; I guess that’s where it all started. But my addiction started after high school in 2008 when my friends recommended some anime series to me. After that I just kept watching and was pulled into the addiction that is the “Otaku” (*^*).

After watching a bunch of anime in my first months I found out about something called “manga” and its close ties with anime. Then my addiction just grew. Now I’m pretty stable and handle myself quite well, for the most part (¬_¬").

During my time with anime and manga, I’ve come to learn a bit about Japanese culture (*¬*) and fell in love with it. Gotta love Japan.

So I love anime and manga but above all else I love stories. And I like my stories like I like food, balanced! What I mean by that is how a story is put together. I see story making like cooking, where the director is the cook and he/she needs to put the right amount of something at the right time and the right place. That’s how to make an awesome if not perfect story. On the other hand bad stories are just brought out by bad writers and directors. A story sinks or swims based on how it is shown and there are a lot of bad authors and directors out there. But of course, art style and characters are also what I look for in an anime or manga. I don’t really find myself compelled to read something that looks weird but I end up doing so if and only if it’s got an interesting story to tell.

Aside from anime and manga, I’ve gotz great interest in technology and electronics but mostly computers. Thought I’d write that in just in case you’re interested (^o^).

Just something hawt~

I'm open to chats, debates, and reviews. I also like dissecting an anime series or its episodes as well. So that was a bit(?) about me. Yeah, quite long...or not. Lol. (-.-")

Penguindrum 19 - Loli Himari Returns!

Pretty late with this post due to me being overworked and tired. It was yet another cliff hanger end with no foreshadowing. I am less angry about this one because it wasn't a full character change like the other one; Just a random out of the blue thing to "shock" the audience. I was sure as hell shocked and left craving more but I can't help but feel it is more plot devices thrown in to keep things edgy.

Mirai Nikki Ep06 - Vibration Mode

OK Yuno......Wait....What?
The popular trend with most teenage characters is that they lack responsible parents. The parents are either dead, missing, or work away from home and don't bother showing up to support their children. Mirai Nikki at least presents Yukkii's mother as a character with quite the opposite personality of her son. She is a programmer and doesn't come home all that often. The fact that she is missing in his life is well portrayed through Yukkii's character, he isn't use to facing problems head on, and lacks any motivation or support to involve himself. Since he is use to being alone, he deprives himself of any real friends, and when faced with a challenge or having to work with others, he doesn't know what to do, and ends up relying on Yuno and Kurusu.

I can't help but find humor in Yukki's situation.
The whole episode revolves around an uncomfortable (yet humorous) situation of Yukki having his mother meet his stalker Yuno, in a slice of life comedy style. It was refreshing to have a brief change in the air, in this dark and disturbing world Yukkii has plunged into unwillingly. I was initially a bit worried that the episode would be slow-paced and boring like episode 3. The show was actually a good break from all the recent action, while stirring up new trouble, with some darker, psychotic intentions from Yuno and the parent-less child Rei.

Would have been much easier to just introduce Yuno to her from the get-go there Yukki.
How would you explain to your mother that you have a stalker, and that you are both involved in a "battle royal" style game to become the next god of time and space? The answer: you don't. Introducing Yukkii's mother was a nice touch to show how alone Yukki is in the game. Yukki really has no one he can fully trust, he can't even tell his own mother or ask her for help.

It's all in the eyes.
We see two very extreme sides of Yuno this time around in a high contrast of here emotions and thoughts. Initially, and for the most part, we have cute Yuno trying to make a good impression on Yukkii's mother. Yuno even shows proof to Yukki that they will be together and fall in love with each other on the 28th of July, predicted by Yuno's diary. If there's one thing you can count on in this show, it's that you can never let your guard down after any happy moments. The main disturbing scene follows soon after Yuno proclaims her love for Yukki. After such a warm and cute scene, the music dies down, and a sudden jolt of music is played followed by a tilt of the camera across Yuno's wide awake psychotic eyes. We hear Yuno's thoughts on how nice Yukki's mother was to let her stay, and that she didn't need to use her "tools", which appear to be a bag of sharp objects. I think it's safe to say that Yuno was going to stay the night regardless of whether or not the mother allowed it.

It was interesting to see Deus get some screen time, albeit it was minimal, of course it was only to inform us that his body is rotting and will probably perish, giving him a motive for starting this game and wanting a replacement. It seems there is a dark story hidden in Yuno's past about her family, quite possibly the bodies hidden in her house might be that of her own parents. On a brighter note, it seems Yukki is slowly falling for her, with a few thoughts here and there of Yukki being with Yuno.

The episode ends with an introduction to Rei, the little boy who lost his parents to Yunos killing rampage at the Cult incident from last week's episode. Yukkii's mother is taking care of him for the next three days that she is in town for, as it turns out, Rei is a Diary holder, with an adorable picture book diary. He makes a brief attempt to attack Yuno, but is foiled, it will be interesting and exciting to find out what happens next episode.
