Aquarion EVOL [9-10] Can you DIG it?

Holes are awesome k
The highlight of the past two episodes was not the advancement in plot, nor was it the character development, then what was it Djr7? It was non other than the over-the-top countless times they referenced holes and general digging (I swear it was in the hundreds). The entire 9th episode focused on the relationship of Andy and Mr. Big Bangs (boobs). Turns out she was the one filling Andy's holes, err, that sounded odd, but the entire episode was about these hilarious "holes" situation.

Could her ability be any more OP? She simply makes a hand sign and before you know it the enemy is dispatched without a single drop of sweat. Now that I think about it, these were the only characters who have actually died in this entire show so far, well at least they had some screen time before being brainwashed and ultimately meeting their demise at the hands of a hole filling Raeiglar.

Boobs. What more can I say?
It kind of pisses me off with how this show was introduced with a huge deal of the abductors and why they, well, abduct. The fact that this topic of interest was so easily brushed off with a quick explanation shows they won't really be focusing on any serious issues at all.

Photoshop still pwns.
I was not expecting Jin to be able to easily infiltrate Neo-Deava, it seems just about anyone can do it by replacing a previous kids info card with your own picture over his. Fudo and the other higher-ups already knew Jin was infiltrating and just let him enter the school as a new student, and it turns out the guy is starting to warm up to the place. I was surprised with how awkwardly he handled being around women, but he makes a connection to the green neko girl (I still think it's a frog). I doubt he will switch to the Neo-Deava group but it will be interesting to see his departure from the academy and how this might effect him in future battles against each other. It threw me off completely when Cayenne announced Jin has an element power, this changes everything! No, not really, since this show is just dumb but awesome at the same time.

The plot terms involve something about a true eve, repopulating their planet, and the interest of the Reiglars, but in all honesty who cares with the amount of epic silliness involved with this show.

Aquarion EVOL Ep 8 This is Getting Silly

This isn't logical!
This show started out strong imo, with a serious situation the world was in. The Aquarion, doomed destiny of Mikono, mysterious power of Amata, unknown abductors, and past calamities involving Union with the opposite sex, were all pretty big deals that seemed to have been swept under the carpet to make way for random humor, pointless events to develop characters, and over-the-top silliness.

This guy serves no purpose
Now while I do enjoy Aquarion ALOT, I wish they would start working on giving us some really bad-ass Mecha battles that actually mean something, or some suspenseful events that make me want to care about what is happening with the plot. What IS happening with the plot anyway? We finally find out a pretty lame reason for the abductors abducting people, they just need women to populate their planet because women no longer exist for some reason.

I started thinking he was the last born of some king or bad-ass person that has some sort of power, but it turns out he is just the last born person in their entire world, so really there is nothing special about him.

This show now thrives off its silliness. The random gay comments are funny but I need some hardcore stuff, err that sounds weird now that I think about it. We need more serious events, and by the looks of it Mr. Red hair wolf boy (I should know his name but frankly I couldn't care less) is the only one trying to stir things up between the abductors and Neo-Deava. I really enjoy the awkwardly funny and silly situations Zessica, Amata, and Mikono put themselves in but i'm starting to forget who Cayenne and the other side characters are, since Zessicqa is a side character presented as a main character, and vice-versa with Mikono.

I call him Mr.Awesome
Now this whole episode was about fanservice, and the message they said was, less clothes equals awesomeness! I never thought things would become so over-the-top that they would tell us that having less clothes on means your able to sense everything around you, especially when everything involves our love triangle of Amata, Mikono, and Zessica able to sense missiles around their Aquarias with the less amount of clothes they are wearing.

Aquarion EVOL Ep 6-7 A Bleak Future and Ghosts

Another episode goes by without any large threat being addressed towards the Abductors.

I was sure that Mikono would be kidnapped, but it looks like that will happen at a later date, thanks to Amata's quick actions to save her. Once again Cayenne foresees Mikono and our red haired friend at some sort of black attire wedding, creating a wonderful sense of doom and gloom. I don't really know why Mikono is so fixated with wolf boy, but it does allow Zessica to step into the picture and play around with Amata.

That's deep.
There was quite a substantial amount of Shrade in episode 6. It was enjoyable finding out just how dark a power Shrade possesses. Shrade has been well defined by his actions and his past, showing some humor hidden within his elegant charm. I don't mean to go overboard with Shrade, but he is the only character with a real purpose at this point. While Shrade's powers far outreach Amata's or anyone else's, his body cannot handle this power when commanding Aquarion. Shrade's pupose or goal is to "play Aquarion", risking his own life, he has an interesting take on life itself.

The Chairmen definitely worries about Shrade more than anyone else, I still don't know why such a little girl is the Chairmen of the academy. On the other hand, the second in command Fudo, (I'm hungry for some reason) has this flare to him that makes him stand out from the others, he always has this triumphant look on his face, and every time he shouts "Element Change" I just crack up wit how over the top he is in comparison to all the worrywarts around him.

Your just afraid of the ghosts, why are out this late anyway?
It looks like they are trying really hard to push Zessica into the "other girl" role to rival Mikono for Amata's love. At first I thought it would be dumb to pit Zessica with Mikono, but now that Mikono has her own issues with wolf boy, I am hoping for some side flirting with Zessica. It's nice seeing that every character has some personal issues, and are not just blank souls filling in the roles the show needs. Zessica is actually a fun character and I'm looking forward to seeing more of her outgoing side contrast with little innocent Mikono.

This show is my favorite so far, there's never a dull moment with the characters, but I do find the battles to be quite lackluster.

Aquarion EVOL Ep 5 This is Where it Begins

The doughnut metaphor was overkill
Alright so in general everything up until this point has been the introduction to Aquarion EVOL. This episode was the lead up to what EVOL is going to be like for the rest of the season.

One thing that I loved was how they balanced out serious moments with side romance humor. The head honchos of the academy arrive, all while serving as the info dump characters who explain some important information to us. We finally get some background history as to why Love is forbidden, and its connection to Aquarias, with a surprising revealing of Donar Dantes's past (the dude with the robot limbs).

A good portion of the show depicted some funny moments where the males and females must basically go on a threesome of a date, including the popular and rival grouping of Cayenne and Shrade. There was some fun moments to be had when Sazanka (a nobody) is grouped with these rivals, as Shrade makes every possible situation awkwardly gay, resulting in Sazanka exploding with too much emotion.

It was so obvious that Zessica, would come between Mikono and Amata to spark some jealousy between the love birds. I kinda feel bad for Zessica (I still think its suppose to be Jessica but w/e) as she is clearly destined to get nobody and remain the slutty outfit girl with the only outgoing personality. I think she'll somehow end up with Aika in the end, as I see both of them get rejected by their love interests, being Amata for Zessica, and some random hot girl for Aika.

Best pick-up line ever
Aside from the threesome date, we get some insight to this "awakened" person who looks very feminine, and is probably the main villain with some ties to Aquarias going berserk. Also we learn how mentally messed up the main "evil" characters are, with the emo green haired guy and the lone wolf red haired guy who has a fetish for people who "stink" of love.

Next episode is going to be another battle episode, and while I  haven't been all that interested in the battles themselves, the characters have a steady progression without over the top or overdone moments which could have ruined this episode with redundant romance. It didn't btw.

Aquarion EVOL Ep 3-4 re-cap

Sorry for super delayed posts, I'll try and wrap this up briefly. There are no spoilers here other than minor events that pay no real concern.

Well after my first initial amazement with the show, I think this is my favorite this season. A few things that stand out is that there really is nothing wrong with the show. The plot is steady, the characters are fun and brief, meaning no one is getting ridiculous attention. There is also a good deal of history surrounding the EVOL and Amato, as well as an impending doom for Mikono as foreseen by her brother Cayenne. The story seems pretty decent and makes for great speculation with what kind of conflicts could arise between the two dimensions. Basically Earth (I think it's Earth) is being attacked by another dimension they have labelled as "abductors", since they abduct people. These abductors reside on their home world Altea which seems pretty futuristic and more advanced than Earth. Our main hero Amato is able to summon Aquarion EVOL, which is a super combination of other Aquarias (giant robots) in what they call "union". He is the first to initiate a union between males and females, which is apparently not allowed. The academy he now resides in restricts any contact between males and females until the Berlin Wall is destroyed, romance, however is strictly prohibited.

If you haven't seen this show yet but enjoy any form of futuristic giant robot battles then you will love this one, mainly because the robot battles are not over the top and not the main attraction. The characters and story are pretty entertaining as it contains quite a few humorous moments. Another thing to note is that the quality is awesome.

After watching these past few episodes it has come to my attention that they use alternative switching for each show, having one casual character progression episodes followed up with a super awesome combat and character resolve episode. Next time I hope to keep up with each episode and post here, but it has been difficult with massive university projects lately.

First Impression: Aquarion EVOL

I was blown away when watching Aquarion EVOL. The quality was brilliant, and the backgrounds were breathtaking. The fight scenes were equally awesome in terms of visuals. This is probably one of the best looking shows I have seen. The story has really grabbed my attention and just about everything the show delivered caught my attention.

Does this look amazing or what?
I have not seen or heard anything about the first Aquarion show but apparently this one takes place 12,000 years in the future and it's a whole new group of characters. One thing that is pounded into your brain from watching EVOL is the recurring, "I'll wait for you for 12,000 years" saying from a movie that Amoto is fixated with. This saying, as well as "destiny" appear to be key themes for this show as I'm sure they will be touched upon later on. The plot was well established and the setting really helped immerse myself in the Aquarion EVOL universe.

Amato and Mikono
Now for the characters I am pleased to say they all intrigued me. Sora Amato is our main character, and I must say, I like his personality so far, there's nothing over-the-top about him. Amato tries to act like a regular guy but has this weird ability to float or "fly" whenever he gets excited, and therefore needs to put weights in his boots. The one thing that bugs me about him is his outfit, it really doesn't fit in with the scenery and reminds me of some sort of fashionable post apocalyptic desert look, but that's just me, orange vests are weird imo. Our second character appears to be the girl he will fall for, or has already fallen for, Mikono Suzushiro, although I'm not sure which is her first name. Mikono comes across as the type to be a damsel in distress, a bit weak but has some personality, or hopefully develops some in the coming episodes.

Zessica's personality right off the bat, the characters are easily likable.
The rest of the characters easily distinguished themselves with their own characteristics and personalities. The characters were quite enjoyable and I can't wait to see how this show unfolds.

A few things to note from the first double episode.

Guize Stone's are the Chasity belts that prevent the female piloted and male piloted Mechas from combining in a way (called Union), apparently this is forbidden as they don't even allow females and males to enter combat together.
