Diablo 3 - A Lesson in the Future of Gaming

After such a long hiatus from the blog, it was only fitting for me to return with my favourite long business related rants. Imagine a semi-hardcore player like myself was able to make $759 (about $100 left to sell) throughout my 3 weeks of gaming (130-ish) hours, wouldn't that be great?

We all know Diablo 3 had nothing really innovative when it came to actual gameplay we all focus on, but I would like to look at this game from a different perspective.There was one thing Blizzard did that I feel will innovate the gaming industry, the real money auction house (RMAH). Long incoming rant, you were warned.

My Journey through Diablo 3

So after 132 hours of playing my Demon Hunter, roughly 1/3 of that time spent in AH and another 1/3 spent AFK or dead, I have effective playtime around 50 hours. I finally decided the grind was too boring and call it quits and started selling all my gear in Auction house to "cash out". I'll give a final total of my gear worth, but I have already sold $300 and expect it to go to around $500. I was paid about the same amount as a Chinese gold farmer!

Diablo 3 Closed Beta Impressions

Awesome, a message to tell me I am done!

So, I was able to play the Diablo 3 beta thanks to Jolau lending me an account. I played a monk which took roughly 3 hours to beat clearing every inch of the map every time.  At least that is much more then the Blade and Soul Beta. I would frap something down, but I was lagging a bit as is, recording would be out of the question.
