Ore-tachi ni Tsubasa wa Nai OVA

With all the brouhaha with Google vs. co.cc and the blog's switch to using a .com URL, I got the task of changing all the links within the blog itself. Really, Google, I fail to see how this isn't evil. At any rate, a 20min dose of ecchi from the OreTsuba universe made for a good break.

This might have been the only censored scene.

It turned out to be completely wrong of me to expect this OVA to have some kind of relevance to the story, because it was simply uncensored fanservice. There was plenty of full frontal nudity (sans details, so it was like looking at a Barbie doll with nipples). The setting was a hot spring, which made sense because it was confusing to not have a hot spring episode in the main series given the genres. Overall, this was really just an extra scene after the end of the series.

May Peace Prevail in the World - Musings on OreTsuba

Once more, it's been a few days since I finished watching OreTsuba, and a lot of the inconvenient feelings of rage have subsided. I'm ready to tackle the disappointment that was this eroge-adaptation.

While initially my favourite character, Naru ended up tied with Kobato.

I had absolutely no preconceptions or biases going into OreTsuba, mostly because I caught much of the first episode by-and-by while Pearz was playing it next to me. Seeing the massive ecchi content in ep01 was a huge turn-off, and it just continued with the obligatory nonsensical scenes beginning the next few episodes. However, it was very clear that there was a story underneath and that the ecchi content was just the gift-wrapping, so I eagerly persevered. I was greatly disappointed not because the story or characterization was bad but rather because the anime failed miserably at telling it. It was obvious that the planning had been poor, turning a visual novel into a simple 12ep anime, and it showed very clearly.

Ore-tachi ni Tsubasa wa Nai Ep12 [END]

Despite this episode coming out days and days ago, I only just finished watching it. Hong Kong seems to eat up an exorbitant amount of my time, despite there not being much to do. That's almost how I feel about this episode.

Are we sure she's not crazy too?

The final episode wrapped things up nicely. Regardless, it disappointed heavily. Haneda (as in, Takashi) showed up almost not at all this entire episode and Youji took over permanently. This meant that he was seen in Chitose and Narita's shoes, as well as his own - the school (which, theoretically, was what Haneda was doing all this time). As an ending, it was solid. As an ending to a story, it sucked...a lot.

Ore-tachi ni Tsubasa wa Nai Ep11

The Spring Season of anime is almost coming to an end, which means a lot of the shows that I had to sit through, secretly raging inside, are wrapping up. I'm really hoping that at least some of them have good endings...

She went through 3 costumes in just the one scene. Pro.

This week's episode of OreTsuba tied up the major loose end of Haneda - as in, he finally came back from Gregatgard and Asuka confronted him on the matter of his sanity. While the first half of the episode was just a "regular day", the second half very clearly revealed to the viewer (and Haneda) that Gretagard, under no circumstances, was real. With the way this episode ended, I assume that the series finale will solve the question of Haneda or Youji (I'm voting for the latter).

Ore-tachi ni Tsubasa wa Nai Ep10

I was pleasantly surprised to see that Shikkaku released ep10 already, considering it's only Thursday morning (night in Beijing) and I don't usually expect OreTsuba until sometime on Friday. Given last week's revelations, I was waiting with bated breath for this week, and it didn't disappoint at all.

It's turning into yuri!

This week featured Narita in the cockpit for nearly the entire day, seeing as how Chitose did most of the work last time. With no sign of Haneda, this episode already began with high marks. Seeing Narita at school, dealing with things in his own way, was awesome in several ways: for one, he's my favourite character and for another, it solidified how much I dislike Haneda and his methods (or lack there of). Like with the previous episode, a Scramble occurred about 60% through and Chitose was available for the remainder. Overall, this was really an excellent episode for this anime.

Ore-tachi ni Tsubasa wa Nai Ep09

Given last week's episode, I was pretty excited to see this one. Thankfully, it didn't disappoint. It just made me sad.

She definitely has a lot of service shots...

This episode featured absolutely no Haneda, which is always a plus. Instead, it had Chitose filling in for the morning and afternoon shifts, and then Narita for the nighttime. It was made extremely clear that the host body did have DID, that Haneda had no idea, and that something big was set to happen for all the personalities (referred to always as "time running out"). It was a relaxed episode that brought together the story more.

Ore-tachi ni Tsubasa wa Nai Ep08

Suspiciously enough for an ecchi anime that I never really actually cared for, this almost has me attempting to determine more about the story beforehand. I must say, visual novels weave an intricate story (note that I didn't say "well done").

Maybe I should stop using ecchi pics as the lead-in...

This episode cemented a lot of what I thought, especially in it that this most likely is a story about a psychologically-disturbed kid. This episode had Chitose and Narita at the very beginning, but then once again featured Haneda, which was pretty annoying to watch because, once again, it was a cock-sucking fest (in one scene, quite literally). Despite this, it was still an interesting episode because - surprise, surprise - we got to meet Boy #1, Haneda Youji.

Ore-tachi ni Tsubasa wa Nai Ep07

A little bit late, but that's only because sushi called. Being full of tempura and unagi, I'm ready to talk about the ecchi-ecchi OreTsuba.

I genuinely have no idea who she is.

So, this episode was entirely narrated by Itami (finally we see him), and I was extremely pleased. He hasn't overthrown Narita as my favourite male character, but the fact that he was in Narita's domain (with most people mistaking him for Narita) added him some points. In its typical nonsensical way, this episode explained a lot, added some more questions, and solidified the pairing of Itami and Kobato.

Ore-tachi ni Tsubasa wa Nai Ep06

After the terrible nature of last week's episode, I was a little gun-shy to watch this week. (Of course, that's not why I waited a day; it was because of Gurren Lagann. We've already been over this with AnoHana.) Nonetheless, it was a good episode.

I have nothing but adoration for her.

The best part of this week's episode was that there was no appearance of Haneda. I hate him. This episode, once again, focused on the Chitose-Narita duo, with cameos by their respective love prospects. It ended with a surprising turn that I didn't expect - the appearance (finally) of Itami, Boy #2! Overall, the plot moved pretty fast with this episode, although not a lot of new information was given; this was still preferred over the last episode, whereas a lot of new information was given but it felt pretty forced since it was all about Haneda.

Ore-tachi ni Tsubasa wa Nai Ep05

Disclaimer: Aaro is not in a good mood.

It was such a long wait for this episode~ HorribleSubs was later than usual and, as of writing this, Shikkaku has yet to release it. *sigh* Of course, a part of me almost wishes that this episode hadn't come out at all. But, anyway, on with the (stupid) show~

One of the few ecchi scenes and it's not even that great.

Before I begin, please note that I don't hate this show. I just didn't like this episode. It was (probably) necessary to the story, but I really detested it. It raised more questions than it answered, and it even focused on my least favourite character. I was dreading this episode for quite some time now; we finally got to see Haneda...and it was not worth it.

Ore-tachi ni Tsubasa wa Nai Ep04

Ah, look, this one again. I'm actually really excited for OreTsuba after this episode.

Where could her nipples possibly be? Damn mutations...

I'm glad I waited around for the story; the "twist" introduced was really good. Truthfully, I didn't see it coming...because there wasn't any real foreshadowing that could possibly have led to this. Either way, this episode was by far the best so far, introducing the story (finally).

Ore-tachi ni Tsubasa wa Nai Ep03

Oh, look, ep03 of this super ecchi harem anime that I'm watching for reasons that I can't really understand~

So, Tamaizumi last episode and Kobato this episode. Naru, you're a maniac.

This episode was much better than ep02, although it followed the same formula (show snippets of the boys, with minimal ecchi scenes throughout after a super-ecchi scene at the very beginning). In retrospect, I still think that ep02 was slow for some reason, while I thought this episode flowed a lot better. I'm still waiting for the story, although I wonder how deep and intriguing it'll even turn out to be, but episodes like this make this series really acceptable as a pass-time.

Ore-tachi ni Tsubasa wa Nai Ep02

Finally. It's been 11 days since I watched the first episode; what kind of blasphemy is this? But it had to do with "early screenings" and "fail groups failing hard" and all... (More at the very end, if you're really curious about the second thing.) I'm watching HorribleSub's 720p version, by the way. They (by which I mean Crunchyroll) seem to have translated the blue names, so I'll check out ep01 by them too. I really need visual guidance for the characters.

OP and ED were completely different. What was that in the first episode, then...?

Overall, it was a pretty slow episode that didn't really advance the plot, and only showed two of the male leads slightly more in-depth. (I'm not complaining; Narita is by far my favourite right now, so it was good to focus less on Haneda. Lines have been drawn.) With far less ecchi scenes this time, I wonder if this anime might fall a little flat...?

Ore-tachi ni Tsubasa wa Nai Ep01

(I have no idea what to abbreviate that to; maybe OreTsuba? Pearz says "Under the Harem Sky", which is actually very apt.)

So about an hour ago, as I lounged in Rho's chair and leaned over at Pearz' screen, I saw some serious softcore porn-like blurs. Having nothing else to do, I watched the first episode of Ore-tachi ni Tsubasa wa Nai (with the English name called "Under the Innocent Sky", somehow) with her.

The title screen, although it happens a good 3min into the episode, without an opener. Such teases.

Going into this, I had no idea what was to come, except the vague sense that it would probably be harem (because Pearz said it would be) and ecchi (because it's hard to ignore the first scene). I expected a lot of agonizing moments where it would be hard to watch - but I'm mysteriously pleased to say that the entire episode flowed quickly, concisely, and almost pleasurably. While it probably has both of the things I expected - ecchi and harem - it also seems to have some plot, if you look passed at least one of those traits.
