Dog Days In Review [5/10]

Well, I was pretty dispapointed with this anime in general. It started off extremely strongly, showing huge promise of a fantastic plot with a well-done first battle. Things degraded downhill pretty fast as the anime progressed. This is really a true example of an anime that did not reach its full potential.

Dog Days 13 - Just as Planned...

Well, I can't say that I didn't expect that he would be able to return again. The huge problem I had was the over-dramatized leaving ceremony. It was clear that after such a failed climax, nothing even remotely bad could happen. I seriously don't know what they were thinking with such a drawn-out goodbyes.

Dog Days 12 - The Long Farewells

So, we quickly learned of the prerequisites to sending the Hero back to his own world, with a super duper twist. *le shock* Sadly, at this point, a dramatized version spanning two episodes would probably have been better than the crappy prophecy that turned out horribly.

Dog Days 11 - When Insert Songs Aren't Good Enough for Redemption

O RLY?

I am a huge fan of insert songs, but it still wasn't enough to even come close to redeeming this anime. I haven't seen such a badly-done ending in quite some time. It is one thing to fall back on crappy cliches with the ending, but when they fail to hold any sort of tension within the viewers, they have failed in creating a climax.

Dog Days 10 - Anti-Climactic-ness

The hero becomes a TRAP!!

Wow, that was amazingly anti-climactic. This was portrayed as the death of Millihore, and yet the Big Bad Boss died pretty easily. With another 2-3 episodes left, this leaves me to believe that another final boss will show up. At least, that is all I can hope for to redeem this anime.

Dog Days 09 - Enter Saber Millihore

We finally got to the start of the real battle. Anyone else notice how none of the generals ever fight each other? They are all nub-stomping and avoiding each other; these are some quality pub-stomping generals. Heck, the generals even run around in groups while avoiding each other. Ha-ha-ha. If that isn't pub-stomping, then I don't know what is.

Dog Days 08 - Just As Planned

I have always had a thing for archers...

After a couple of days after airing, the subs are finally out. It sucks that Ayako is busy with exams, causing Dog Days to be delayed; at least this other subbing group is getting faster. I digress from the main point of the post though. This episode was nice and witty, with the master plan of Biscotti going off without a hitch.

Dog Days 07 - You Gotta Play Catch with Your Dog

Glomp~

Well, we got the start of that peak towards the climax of the anime in this episode. Everything is starting to set in motion for the huge battle between Biscotti and Galette. Things are really shaping up for this anime to be one of my favourites of the season. I wouldn't have been able to guess from the first episode, which is a nice surprise. It is always nice to be impressed with the way things have been going.

Dog Days 06 - Mirror Mirror on the Wall

In other words, she is a tsundere.

Well, we finally got our first "real" show of the grimdark turn of events. It was presented in a pretty straightforward manner, which was something I did not expect. How often is a huge change to the tone of an anime presented so directly? This is like blasphemy. I guess they opted out of the shock factor to win over fans.

Dog Days 05 - Insert Songs ftw

Dog Days is getting more and more awesome to watch. Nothing like some insert songs to make an anime better.  My only real dislike is the recap at the start of the episode, but that takes a total of 15sec, which is much shorter than most recaps, so I guess it's fine. I am 100% sure there will be a grimdark twist at this point.

Dog Days 4 - It's Like They Can Read My Mind

Bunnies ears = cats now?

This episode felt like a troll episode. We were under the impression that we would get the fight between the hero and archnemesis, but it doesn't actually happen in this episode. I forgive it, though; throughout the episode, it was essentially a mindfuck. I was thinking, "Hey, wouldn't this be kool?" ...and then, BAM, it happened. They've seriously got to stop with the mind reading; I think it causes cancer.

Dog Days 3 - Not Enough Hot Pants

At least the summoning circle had a warning label.

After a long delay, Dog Days was finally subbed. This episode wasn't as amazing as the last one, but it shows that this series is turning out be a nice light-hearted fantasy anime. Inb4 random grim-dark plot twist to make everyone go WTF.

Dog Days 2

I'm quite sure she was the one in the way.

It seems unlikely that this will be an anime I'll blog about episodically, but I think that I might give it the full 12-13ep chance. The second episode showed much more potential than the first one, being less on the info dumping side and pretty much becoming fully-focused on their battle for the area.

A First Look at Dog Days, Tiger and Bunny, and Hanasaku Iroha

So, I've started watching the first episodes of anime airing this season. I'm not including a few, like Nichijou (since that OVA was just brutal). I just don't intend to sit through that kind of stuff again. I also didn't watch X-Men, since I've decided to not even give it a chance. Steins;Gate isn't subbed yet, which is something I'm looking forward to. I actually wasn't planning on making this post yet, but then Aaro mentioned that I watched Dog Days already and now I feel obligated. I just noticed that a billion reviews on Dog Days were up already, and didn't really want to make one. Owelz.
